The term ‘Abaya’ has a lot of definitions and usually there’s a variation over what an Abaya appears like, what it consists of and what colors it arrives in. The way I would define an Abaya is that it is a black color long cloak (one piece) that handles all the things underneath the shoulder except hands and feet. The Abaya clothes is often worn amid Middle Eastern khaleeji (gulf) girl.
The realistic behind this explanation is to set the Abaya separate from the Jilbab clothing which has several similarities but quite a few differences. Hijabs to begin with have arms which are stitched to the primary shape for the cloak. Abayas, while in the other hand, are one piece apparel with sleeves which are not actually stitched to the body of the clothing however formed as one piece. This might sound as strange as it does however , it is an age old custom amongst the Arab Khaleeji (Gulf) girl to wear it like that. Abayas traditionally come with embroidery during the neck, sleeves or base hem.
Abayas come towards light materials as long as the colour is dark such as lexus crepe, a polyester type of material for a standard priced Abaya. Abayas created from internet crepe and satin materials are higher end quality and reasonably expensive and can cost anything from 100 to 300 or over. Abayas can be open fronted with buttons all the way from the top down or closed.
Modern day Abayas worn by the younger generation are moving away from the standard embellishment on the clothe. The younger generation opt for more trendy geometric, floral design from silver or gold embroidery, bead, sequins, multi colored crystals for ordinary or Swarovski for more expensive Abayas. These intricate design are added onto neckline, bodice, base and streaming flared sleeves with tassel to make it look more chic, fashionable and elegant for younger generation to wear Abaya.
